DIMACS Minisymposium on Advances in Phylogenetics Inference Methods
March 20, 1998
DIMACS Center, Rutgers University
- Organizers:
- Daniel Huson, DIMACS, Princeton University, huson@math.princeton.edu
- Shibu Yooseph, DIMACS, Rutgers University, yooseph@dimacs.rutgers.edu
Presented under the auspices of the DIMACS Special Year in Mathematical Support of Molecular Biology.
Phylogeny inference plays an important role in several scientific
disciplines such as evolutionary biology, molecular systematics, and
historical linguistics. This minisymposium will cover recent
advances in phylogeny inference methods and will focus on various
issues including appropriate models for bio-molecular sequence data,
sequence alignment techniques, and new techniques for handling
highly divergent data sets.
